Our Fall 2007 Sales List is now closed due to freezing weather.
NEW. A few of our plants at the end of season.
Cypripedium pubescens Perakos Queen seedling at the end of its third year outside. This is an offspring of a magnificient plant cultured for more than 35 years by Mrs. Perakos. We hope the seedlings we are growing become as regal as their mother. The mesh is 1/2 inch.
Cypripedium kentuckiense seedling at the end of its third year outside. We have a large number of these in a bed in a mixture of 50% perlite and 50% fine builder's sand (neutral pH). One cannot argue that the plants are very happy in this mixture! Several have two buds for next season and this one has three. The mesh is 1/2 inch.
This is the plant that grew and bloomed last winter. It has now become dormant and has made remarkable progress - from a single bud to four buds. Because the plant began to grow in the winter it was active for 11 months! Often this leads to weakening or even death of a plant but this one is very hardy. We wish it a long winter's nap.
This Cypripedium macranthos alba is another plant that broke dormancy during last winter while being shipped. It grew until April and has been in the refrigerator until three weeks ago. It began to grow furiously when brought out and has graced our darkening late October and early November evenings with its outstanding color and form. It reminds us why we do so much work at this time of year with repotting, reflasking, and deflasking.
